You read correctly, our baby girl is here! Sienna Elizabeth Mears was born on 18th April 2019 at 11.27am, weighing in at 8.7lbs and she couldn’t be more perfect.
Sorry for the late announcement on here but the husband has had the last two weeks off work with me and we’ve just been enjoying our baby girl and adjusting to our new exciting lives together.
Having not moved from her breech position throughout my pregnancy Sienna was eventually born via caesarean section during my 38th week. After doing everything I could to try and turn our little bubs, including spending a lot of time upside down (thanks to Nikki and Alison from MamaBFit for all the positions you taught me!), we were due to have an ECV procedure (a process to try and manually turn the baby) during my 37th week. We’d had it booked for weeks in the eventuality the baby hadn’t turned by that point, however a few days before we were due to go in I changed my mind and decided not to go ahead with the procedure for a number of reasons but in the main because of my concern about it resulting in an emergency caesarean. I’m so glad because as it turned out Sienna couldn’t move anyway as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck, twice. We had made the right choice to cancel the ECV.
Anyway, the c-section all went well. It was scary as hell but the most incredible moment of my life when I heard that little squawk of a cry and my husband proudly announced we had a little girl. Let’s just say there were a lot of tears!
The past two weeks have been crazy, busy, emotional and so precious. Sienna has made us beyond happy and she couldn’t be more adorable!
I’ll leave you with some shots from the last couple of weeks…
