I have your new date night spot sorted with the stunning Vanitas set in the palatial Palazzo Versace. I mean this hotel is total goals if you are trying to impress and you certainly can’t go wrong with its signature Italian restaurant. It’s all things Versace with opulent decor, plates that will make you wish you brought a bigger handbag, romantic candelabra’s and a beautiful canal side terrace for those cooler months.
With the appointment of new Chef de Cuisine, Marco Legittimo (previously of Bussola), we were delighted to be invited to try the Chefs Table experience and some of the new dishes on the menu and I am happy to confirm we were not disappointed.
The evening kicked off with a selection of starters all beautifully presented and equally divine or so I’m told by my dining partners as sadly I couldn’t have the tuna tartare and the foie gras. I did however get my fill of the super soft, creamy burrata served with sweet heirloom tomatoes, olives capers and basil. Dubai loves a burrata and this is up there with the best.
The middle course of Tagliolini pasta may well have been my favourite, you know I’m all about the carbs right now. The pasta was perfectly al dente and zesty with ginger and lemon oil, emulsion of pistachio and capers with fresh Canadian lobster. Not a huge portion (I could easily have eaten two!) but definitely one to try.
The mains were up next and I’d be hard pushed to tell you which was my favourite between the black cod, the cappelletti stuffed with ricotta or the wagyu beef striploin. If you can order them all just do it. It’s way too hard to choose! Every dish was superbly cooked, beautifully plated, and full of flavour and textures.
The Chef’s Signature Desserts were the perfect end to a perfect meal where the star of the show was definitely the tiramisu. The portion size was great for sharing and gave you a lovely sweet hit without being over the top.
We absolutely loved the fresh, contemporary take on some classic Italian dishes at Vanita’s. You could tell a lot of love and thought went into each dish and the ingredients as you would expect were all of a very high quality. The restaurant manages to be fine dining without feeling stuffy. The service was very laid back and friendly and despite being quite quiet on the evening we visited had a lovely vibe.
The pricetag is on the higher side but well worth it for a gorgeous restaurant that will impress any discerning Dubai foodie. Definitely one for the date night list!
