Le Cirque: Your new date night venue

I’ve got your new date night venue sorted – the incredible French-Italian fine dining restaurant, Le Cirque in the Ritz Carlton DIFC. In fact date night, girl’s night, business lunch, weekend lunch or just some beautiful cocktails, this place has you covered.

I’d visited Le Cirque a couple of months back for an event and was literally wowed by the luxurious and beautifully designed venue. It is beyond stunning! I got to try some incredible canapés but not a full meal so I was very excited to go back for dinner last week.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the wonderfully friendly staff and immediately made to feel at home. We were shown to our stunning table and the lovely manager, Kateryna, came over to welcome us and ask if we would be happy to let them take control of the ordering and wine pairing. I absolutely love when a restaurant does this, it takes the pressure off me trying to make up my very indecisive mind and then spending the next half an hour wondering if I ordered well.

Before the procession of food began the head mixologist came to our table and offered us a drink to start. She asked what we like and then whipped us up two incredible cocktails. The husband was treated to a delicious take on the old-fashioned while I tried their signature “Le Cirque Club”. I won’t tell you all the details just take my word for it and try it.

I feel like Le Cirque are either mind readers or they’d been Instastalking me to check out what I like to eat as we were greeted by two of my favourite dishes to start, Tartare de Boeuf and Burrata. The tartare may be going up there with one of the best I have had. It came with topped with an egg yolk cooked in charcoal oil which gave the dish its signature smoky flavour. The burrata was accompanied by fig and date jam and delicious freshly baked sourdough. It was so soft and creamy I was in serious cheesy heaven.

Next up, the dish I had been hotly anticipating, escargot, and I was not disappointed. These were DIVINE! Generously slathered in a beautiful, rich, herby, garlic butter they were absolutely perfect. It was the husbands first time trying escargot and given his aversion to anything served in a shell, I wasnt expecting him to be enamoured. After a near “Pretty Woman” incident, he managed to get the “little sucker” out and then quickly declared he couldn’t eat it. Good news for me – I got to eat all 6. I even shamefully used all the bread that we were served to mop up the leftover garlic butter. It would be rude to waste it right?IMG_8847As if I hadn’t eaten enough already, it was onto mains and we were served the Gnocchi Au Salmon and the Entrecôte Grillée. A bit like a risotto, I wouldn’t normally order a gnocchi dish as a main in a restaurant. As much as I enjoy it when I have it, unless I’m sharing it I find I get a bit bored half way through. However this gnocchi was just delicious and I definitely could have eaten the entire serving to myself. We were told that the chef has a very special technique when making his gnocchi to make it lighter and fluffier than normal and he definitely achieved this. Onto the steak – this came out perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. It was super tender and the cafe de Paris sauce was spot on. Definitely a great dish to share.

No meal is complete without dessert and I figured I’d eaten so much already I may as well go out with a bang. We were treated to the white chocolate cheesecake with passion fruit jus.  The citrusy zing of the passion fruit cut right through the white chocolate and complimented it perfectly. Just when I thought we were done a crêpes trolley was wheeled up next to our table and we watched as our skilled server made flambéed Crêpes Suzette. I’ve actually never had Crêpes Suzette before (no idea how that’s happened) but it was love at first bite and needless to say the hubby and I fought for every last forkful. Sorry for the lack of a photo of the crêpes, I was too busy videoing the dramatic  display and then eating to actually take a pic. Shame on me. IMG_8959

Throughout our meal the sommelier was on hand and served us some fantastic wines. Special mention has to be made of the Sasseo Primitivo Salento that we were treated too, so good I may have had another glass, or two.

As if the evening wasn’t perfect enough with the service, food and drinks there was a live piano player and singer who had some fantastically original takes on some classic and modern songs. He really added to the whole ambience of the venue and there were even a few people up and dancing.

Our whole experience was absolutely faultless and I literally cannot wait to return. I’ve heard fantastic things about their weekend Dejenuer Avec Le Chef and will most certainly be trying this out soon.

Merci Beaucoup Le Cirque!
